The excitement of a new football season is in the air as the West Plains Zizzers prepare to host their annual Red & White Scrimmage on Friday, August 22 at 7 p.m. at Zizzer Stadium. Admission to the event is a case of sports drinks or bottled water, which will be used to help keep Zizzer athletes hydrated throughout the season.

The Kansas City Chiefs held their longest training camp practice Tuesday in temperatures that felt upwards of 110 degrees with the heat index. Transitioning to a new position in camp is offensive lineman Kingsley Suamataia, moving from left tackle to left guard. Head Coach Andy Reid says now that players have had pads on for a few days now, he’s seen good things from Suamataia.
Suamataia says while the move is going well, it’s still a learning process, with things moving much faster at the guard position.
The heat brought a slew of new injuries, including a hamstring injury for wide receiver Skyy Moore and an ankle injury for Hollywood Brown among others.
