West Plains Zizzer, William Colvin, a sophomore at West Plains High School, qualified to compete in the Class 3 State Wrestling Championship Tournament on Friday, February 27, and Saturday, February 28, at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Missouri. William earned a 4th-place finish at the Class 3 District 3 Tournament in Bolivar this past weekend, securing his spot in the State Tournament. This accomplishment is especially historic, as William becomes the first male Zizzer wrestler to qualify for the State Wrestling Tournament.
Boy’s High School basketball on the radio tonight. Class 3 district 9 at Cabool Licking vs Houston at 530 and Thayer vs Cabool at 7pm games will air on The Fox 969. Class 2 district 10 Fordland vs Bakersfield at 430, Norwood vs Dora at 6pm and Mansfield vs Summersville at 730 games will air on KUKU 100.3 games will be played at Mansfield. West Plains at Hilcrest game will air on KDY 102.5.
The Missouri Tigers will host Tennessee tonight pregame at 730 tip-off at 8pm all on Q94. Saturday the Mizzou Tigers will be at Mississippi State pre-game at 1130 and tip-off at 12 noon all on Q94.
Girls High School Basketball Scores from last night. Class 1 district 1 Bunker girls over Lesterville 66-26. Bunker will face Oak Ridge on Wed night at 6pm at Sikeston. Class 1 district 2 Kosh falls to Niangua 66-63, Couch will face School of the Ozarks Wed at 730 at Galena. Class 2 district 3 Van Buren over Valley 67-9, Van Buren will face Alton Wed at 630 at Van Buren. Class 2 District 10 girls, Bakersfield over Fordland 40-37, Gainesville over Mansfield 43-35, Hartville over Dora 37-35. On Wed Norwood vs Bakersfield, and Gainesville vs Hartville at 730 games will be played at Mansfield. Class 3 district 9 Liberty over Houston 54-44, Licking over Cabool 56-27. Wed night Liberty vs Thayer at 530 and Willow Springs vs Licking at 7pm games are being played at Houston. And not district play the West Plains Lady Zizzers top Hillcrest 69-45.
The Latest Boys High School Basketball Rankings are out and in our area teams that made the list are. Class 1 Bunker still sits atop the rankings at #1 and Chadwick comes in at #7. In Class 2 Hartville is #3, Van Buren is #4, Norwood is #7 and Mansfield is #8. Class 3 Liberty comes up the list to #6 and Seymour is #9 and Greenwood #10. Class 4 Rogersville is #3. Class 5 Hillcrest is #8 and in class 6 Kickapoo is #4 and Rolla is #8 and Nixa is #9.
