The Ottawa REDBLACKS locked up a star player signing American receiver Jaelon Acklin through the 2024 CFL season, the team announced last week. “Jaelon has proven to be a playmaker in this league who is extremely productive. To get a two-time division all-star under contract for a longer period was important to us. We are excited to see his commitment to our team and our city continue for a couple more years,” said General Manager Shawn Burke. ” Acklin, 27, enters his fourth CFL season, and second with the REDBLACKS, after enjoying a year of career high’s in 2022. The Mountain View, Missouri native appeared in 15 games, making 75 catches for 1,169 receiving yards, 380 YAC, and a pair of touchdowns. Acklin was twice recognized by the league for his outstanding play; earning Top Performer honours for the month of July, and for Week 13.

 

Boys Volleyball is officially a MSHSAA Interscholastic Sport Effective in the 2023-24 School Year, this spring sport will have a one-class championship May 26 – June 1, 2024. All member schools have the opportunity to register for Boys Volleyball

 

Class 2 state golf Springfield Catholic claimed third place as a team with a strong second day performance of 335, which was 21 strokes better than Monday’s total. Cole Camp was two strokes back of the Irish in fourth place. Willow Springs rounded out the area’s teams in placing seventh.

 

 

The Royals jumped out to an early five-run lead and held on for a 5-4 victory over the San Diego Padres at Petco Park.
