The Missouri State West Plains Grizzlies traveled to the campus of St Louis Community College to take on The St Louis Archers on Wednesday Night, February 18th, 2026. This was the last non-region game of the season for The Grizzlies who have still yet to win a game in Region play this season.
1st Half: #4,Chris Cole controls the tip in the ballgame for The St. Louis Archers and sends up making four points early on. But Tyrell Smith manages to score on the rebound. Makai Lindsey also scores inside as The Archers lose
While Cole makes several buckets early, the real control issue is with #22, 6”3 forward, Kyle Gast and #32, “6’4” forward, Derric Smith.
Both men do any exceptional job of keeping the Grizzlies out of the post and scoring on high jump shots and denying the Grizzlies prolonged time with the Basketball.
Grizzlies come back within one as #24, Dassiah Green comes into the game as well as #4, Ace Evans as Grizzlies come within three after being down by five.
Quickly though, it is taken back to a five point lead for The Archers as #4, Chris Cole scores on an easy Taylor.
More from The Archers bench come into the game. #2, Miyel Taylor and #15, Zac Goss. Goss scoring on a three and Taylor scoring on several rebounds as well as a trip to the line.
This effort brings the Archers to lead at the half.
2nd Half- Grizzlies cut the game back to a nine point lead as three combined by Ace Evans, Shaun Glass, and Tyrell Smith.
The game is cut back to a two possession game. 64-61 led by The Archers as Makai Lindsey also connected efforts with some excellent free throw shooting.
CJ Lang now in the Game for The Archers along with #15, Goss and #32,Derric Smith also combine for several points and
A five point game, 68-63 as Javon Barbee scores on a three. Followed up by a shot by Lang for The Archers on the rebound.
Both teams end up in considerable foul trouble midway through. CJ Lang, nearly becomes the highest scorer in the second half. Another bucket scored by a single, 2nd half scorer #21, Zach Winkler.
Archers defense keeping Grizzlies very far from the basket as lead is back up by ten with under four minutes to go in the ballgame, 79-69
Grizzlies continue to have issues coming back up until another three is good by #15, Javon Barbee with 2:48 to go, down by ten-84-74.
A foul on the next play by Ace Evans and Miyel Taylor shoots two more for the Archers. A foul again sends Chris Cole to the line, and misses all.
Three by Tyrell Smith is good as we trail by four and a good jumper from the base line cut the Grizzlies to trail by four.
This gives Grizzlies a chance to tie up the game as they get fouled twice and Ace Evans gets a chance at the line. He is able to cut the game down to two points.
A foul on the next play by the Grizzlies as ball is taken back by The Archers as they bring the lead back to three, with 29.3 seconds to go.
Grizzlies foul again on the play by Shaun Glass. Zach Winkler goes to the line for the Archers.1-2, 90-86 led by the Archers with under 20 seconds to go.
A foul on the next play for the Archers as Tyrell Smith goes to the line. Tyrell shoots and scores. 1-2.
Foul again, by CJ Lang. And shoots one.
