Grizzlies Win By Two In Second Matchup of Their Home Tournament, 88-86 over The North Arkansas Pioneers

The Missouri State West Plains Grizzly Basketball Team resumed play in The Grizzly Tournament for their second matchup in what would be their home tournament.

While they had a rocky end to the second half, they win by two; 88-86 over The North Arkansas Pioneers from Harrison, Arkansas. 

1st Half: Tip controlled by The North Ark Pioneers. Almost stealed by the Grizzlies but put up and good by #10, Mason Simpson for North Ark. Bounce pass to #5, Nicholas Huff for two more and The Pioneers will take an early 5-0 lead. 

Finally, #5, Shaun Glass breaks the ice and puts the Grizzlies on the board, 4-2. Bounce pass from #11, Makai Lindsey back to #15, Javon Barbee for a three, and Grizzlies will lead by one, 5-4. 

Javon Barbee shoots one free throw on the first North Ark foul after making another two pointer. Game gets tied a seven points as Grizzlies near substitutions. 

Grizzlies can answer back at the line as #11, Makai Lindsey shoots two, making both as #5 Huff makes one. This will now tie the game at 9-9.

Tied at twelve as Ace Evans will shoot another two and another three pointer by #5, Huff for Nork Ark. A foul and two good free throws by #4, Ace Evans for The Grizzlies. 

#20, Damani Barley comes into the Game and scores two points. 

#1, Tyrell Smith who comes in for the Grizzlies also comes in a shoots the next foul on North Ark

With under 9 minutes to go, Grizzlies lead by five, 25-20

#4 Ace Evans with the next three for the Grizzlies following next two free throws by #5, Huff for North Ark. 

#14, Gustav Blaudenfeldt now in also makes two more.

Grizzlies who made 50 % of their shots off the bench in the previous night’s game are doing nothing so far but helping this percentage. 

The North-Ark Pioneers make their fifth turnover with 2:05 to go and the Score, 37-29 as the Grizzlies hold the lead.

Taken back and a three pointer by #32, Javian Webber for North Ark suddenly cutting it to a five point lead. 

Ace Evans is the star to end the 2nd half with a trip to the line and a three to make it a 47-33 lead at the half. 

2nd Half: #3 Blayn Harris comes into the game for the Grizzlies and makes the first three of the second half. Ace Evans also remains in the game and contributes about five more of the next few points to shoot the Grizzlies up to as many as fifteen, 59-45. 

#5 Shaun Glass ends up getting the Grizzlies beyond double figures. North Ark tried to get a steal with under 10 minutes to go, but right at the point where Grizzlies needed a three, he sustained the Grizzlies with a twelve point lead, 71-59.

North Arkansas ads several more guards into the ballagame. #30, KJ Nichols continues to attack the basket as he starts the half with at least thirteen points so far on the night. 

The two others who score to hold North Ark at the ten point game is #21, Donovon Villareal & #23, Tyson Hutchings. 

North Ark leads a gruesome attack towards of the second half. Momentarily, Grizzlies can’t seem to get the ball back. It’s a six point ballgame as the only safety is a foul and a free throw attempt by #24, Dassiah Green. But the attempt is no good. 

North Ark cuts it to four as Nichols shoots another three with just 47 seconds to go in the ballgame and the score, 88-84. Make it two points after a right hand jumper by #21, Villareal. 

North Ark tries to win with a two off the hands by Villareal but the Final holds as The Grizzlies win it by a Final of 86-88
