The Royals are avoiding a sweep in San Francisco. Whit Merrifield’s sac-fly in the eighth inning lifted KC to a 3-2 win over the Giants in the Bay. Merrifield and Bobby Witt Jr. scored the other two KC runs on a first inning error by Brandon Crawford. Jose Cuas picked up his first career win and Scott Barlow posted his seventh save. Brandon Belt homered for the Giants, who saw their five-game winning streak come to an end. John Brebbia took the loss.
