Kylie Deberg Named AVCA All-American

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball senior Kylie Deberg was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Second-Team All-American on Wednesday (April 21).

The recognition marks the third-consecutive season Deberg has earned All-America honors. She was selected to the Second Team in 2019 and received Honorable Mention accolades in 2018. Deberg is the fourth Tiger to ever garner three or more selections, joining Alyssa Munlyn (2015-18), Carly Kan (2013-14, ’16) and Lisa Henning (2011-13). The selection also marks the 11th-straight year a Mizzou player has earned All-America honors.

“Kylie proved herself as one of the top outsides in the country this year,” head coach Joshua Taylor said. “She carried a heavy load for this program in her time here and I’m incredibly proud that she is finishing off her indoor career with another All-American award.”

Deberg led the SEC in kills (433), points (505), total aces (42), kills per set (4.76), points per set (5.55) and aces per set (0.46). She ranked third in the country in total kills, points and aces, sixth in kills per set and fifth in points per set. The veteran eclipsed the 20-kill plateau on 10 occasions this season. Deberg also produced eight double-doubles in the shortened year.

Over her three years in Columbia, Deberg broke Mizzou’s career marks in kills per set (4.31) and points per set (5.11). Deberg is the first Tiger to ever average better than 5.00 points per set for her career and broke the previous record by 1.04 points per set. She finished her Mizzou career ninth in all-time kills (1,382), third in total aces (150) and ninth in total points (1,639.5) while spending just three seasons with the Tigers.

In the NCAA Tournament, Deberg produced 5.50 kills per set while hitting .338 for the Tigers. She also averaged 2.67 digs per set.

With Deberg’s selection, Mizzou now has 24 total AVCA All-America awards since the year 2000. The Tigers have had 10 selected to First, Second or Third-Team All-American teams.
