It wasn’t pretty, but the Liberty Lady Eagles dug deep and came out on top in a nail-biting five-set battle against Eminence on Thursday night.
After dropping the first and third sets, Liberty found themselves in a deep hole in set four, trailing 13-20. But with their backs against the wall, the Lady Eagles mounted an electrifying comeback to steal the set 26-24, then rode that momentum to dominate the final set 15-8.
Brinley Duckett came up big down the stretch, hammering down 13 kills to lead the offensive charge. Natalie Hunter was a force at the net with 4 key blocks, while Jordyn Tune kept the offense flowing with 40 assists and added 3 aces from the service line.
Defensively, Jade Acklin anchored the back row with a team-high 20 digs. Abby Roberts also made a late-game impact off the bench, bringing energy and pressure with a clutch 5-point service run when Liberty needed it most.
Liberty’s JV squad also took care of business, winning their single set 25-14.
Next up, the Lady Eagles head to the Zizzer Showdown on Saturday, looking to carry this momentum into tournament play.
