- LOUIS — Missouri State running back Kevon Latulas has been named Missouri Valley Football Conference Performer of the Week for his efforts in the Bears’ game at Central Arkansas on Saturday.
The MVFC made the announcement Tuesday (Sept. 29) after Latulas (Jr., Port Arthur, Texas) posted game highs in rushing yards (63), receiving yards (83) and all-purpose yards (187) in MSU’s near upset at No. 11 UCA. In his first career start, Latulas also blocked a punt in the second quarter and returned it for a touchdown to give MSU a 10-0 lead at the time. It was the Bears’ first blocked punt return for a touchdown since 2017 (Rickey Nichols).
The transfer from Kilgore (Texas) College finished with 12 carries for 63 yards and six receptions for 83 yards – also game highs – and accounted for five total first downs on the evening.
Latulas is the second Missouri State player to be recognized by the league this fall, joining teammate Tylar Wiltz (Jr., Breaux Bridge, La.) who was honored after the season opener at Oklahoma.
Coach Bobby Petrino’s squad will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Plaster Stadium in Springfield for the Bears only home game of the fall. Kickoff for the homecoming rematch against UCA will be at 7 p.m. Ticket information for that game is expected to be announced Friday.
