Game Audio Below:
The Liberty Eagles began post-season play after their bye week in making it to the #1 seed in Class 2 District 3 as they took on The Ava Bears for the Semifinal round.
Eagles dominated the Bears through the majority of the game on both offense and defense just as they did in Week 4 of the season, getting the win 55-14
1st Quarter- The Eagles start off with some great field position as Sawyer Morris makes the first touchdown run of the night within the first minute in the ballgame with a good extra point kick by Wyatt Cox. Ava tries to rally on their first offensive run but it is picked off as it is run in again by Kyle Roberts. Eagles continue to make scores on every position. The next two runs, one for 94-yards by Jaren Rutledge while the next one is caught by Rutledge as the football goes loose. Liberty dominates the first Quarter as they hang on to a 26-0 lead at the end of one.
2nd Quarter- Eagles continue to play an almost unstoppable offensive line as Jaren Rutledge scores on yet another run in for six more. On defense, they continue to break through any chance of an Ava Bear first down. They secure a 49-0 lead towards the half with a remarkable play by Parker Tune who nearly loses the ball but punches in a brilliant lead at the Half.
3rd Quarter- The Ava Bears begin to make some attempts to pick up some positive yardage as Aiden Lane scores the first six points, with a good on-side kick to make the score, 50-7. But not before Jaren Rutledge executes another kick into the in-zone. This was a small play and only put the Eagles up by three more. This forces Coach Jansen Acklin to make some substitutions midway through. This allows Jasper Melby to shoot the next offensive play, making 55-7 at the end of three.
4th Quarter- Eagles go fairly cold in this quarter as they make a few stops on the Ava Bear defense, but this does allow Aiden Lane to score one more six point run which makes the score, 55-14
This is where the game holds out as even though The Ava Bears start to find a rhythm on offense in the second half, The Liberty Eagles get the win and will face Forsyth for their next round of district play.
