The Liberty Eagles Boys Basketball team traveled to Republic High School, site of the Class 3 Sectionals for a Semi Final Matchup over The 19-9 Skyline Tigers on Saturday, March 7th, 2026.
1st Quarter: Tip controlled by The Liberty Eagles as ball goes to Paxton Hunter for the first shot which is missed. Ramsey Wood with the rebound for Skyline and misses the shot, but a foul on the next play for Liberty sends Parker Owen for Skyline to the line for two. He makes 1 free throw.
Paxton Hunter tries for the next shot which is no good. Rebound by Skyline and Aiden Meade with the next shot for the Skyline Tigers. Ball nearly lost but taken back by The Tigers and a shot is good by Senior, Paxton Foster for Skyline.
First two buckets for Liberty good by Draydon Wells and Paxton Hunter for Liberty. Skyline Tigers playing man to man and a steal as Senior, Paxton Foster for Skyline shoots another jumper to make it a 7-2 game.
Ball stays with Skyline and a three by Aiden Meade for Skyline makes it a 10-2 game. Paxton Hunter tries a jump shot on the rebound but misses and misses. A three by Ramsey Wood is good to make it a 12-2 game.
Blayne Altermatt tries a three for Liberty but goes back to Skyline.
Liberty keeps trying desperately for a three but no luck. Skyline having ample luck getting rebounds.
Scoop shot by Parker Owen is good as ball keeps staying with Skyline. A foul call on Skyline but the Skyline defense is not letting up.
Another pass by Aiden Meade and a foul on Carter Ellett sends Paxton Foster to the line. Paxton Hunter for Liberty gets another foul on Skyline as he shoots two.
Skyline ends 12-5 at the end of one.
2nd Quarter: Skyline continues their attack as Meade and Foster score two big jump shots to make it 19-5. Alex Tune scores on the next good possession, fouling Ramsey Wood for Skyline which sends him to the line for a three point play.
Ball picked up by Parker Owen for Skyline. Bounce pass goes out to Ramsey Wood for his second three of the half, Skyline now leads 23-8.
Liberty tries to pressure in the back court. Parker Tune with two more for Liberty with a steal. Ball goes back to Skyline for a three which is blocked off of Meade as Alex Tune shoots and scores, Liberty trails 23-16.
A block out of bounds sends the ball back to Skyline. Parker Owen shoots a good two pointer which slows things back down for Skyline. A foul on Ramsey Wood sends Parker Tune back to the line for three
Back to a ten point lead as Aiden Meade shoots a good three. Six turnovers for Liberty/ three for Skyline.
Draydon Wells now two fouls is swiped out by owen as Foster shoots two more for Skyline with 3 ½ minutes to go. But rebound by Parker Tune for two more, Skyline leads 30-20.
Two more by Parker Owen on the rebound for Skyline to put The Tigers back up by twelve. Finally a steal and a layup by Alex Tune.
Foster takes it back for Skyline and loses it. Taken back by Liberty and a three is deep by Alex Tune but lost. Carter Ellett with the putback is good. 32-24-Skyline with 52 seconds to go in the half.
Parker Owen is blocked on the next pass as Parker Tune steals the ball back away. Foster swipes it back and a loss and the ball is in and out at the buzzer.
HALFTIME- Skyline Tigers: 35/ Liberty Eagles: 27
2nd Quarter: Skyline with the basketball to start the second half. Meade tries for a three but lost. Taken back as Paxton Hunter passes to Draydon Wells. Finally a two by Draydon Wells
Lost again by Skyline and taken back up by Paxton Hunter for two more for Liberty. Stolen back and Meade passes to Ramsey Wood who scores on a floater for Skyline.
Rebound by Paxton Hunter for Liberty who shoots and falls short but the putback good by Carter Ellett. Ball stays with Liberty.
Ball goes loose and picked up by Skyline as Junior Carter King scores his first two points of the game for Skyline. Loose ball and a foul but taken back up for two by Parker Tune- 39-35 as Skyline leads with 3:32 to go.
A three from the corner is good by Carter King as Skyline takes the ball back up. Rebound by Carter Ellett for Liberty who fouls and makes two.
Carter King with the next two free throws for Skyline with 1:25 to go. A three on the rebound by Alex Tune as Liberty has came back and trails by two, 42-40.
After a Skyline Timeout; The third time foul for Liberty on Alex Tune. Liberty with a steal and a three by Blayne Altermatt is no good.
Drive and scoop shot is good by Parker Owen for Skyline. A travel on Skyline and the ball goes back to Skyine. Shot at the buzzer is no good.
Skyline leads by two at the end of three, 46-44.
4th Quarter: Three out of the gate is good by Alex Tune but a foul sends Carter King to the lead for 1 as the game ties at 47.
Paxton Owen scores a floater on the rebound for Skyline. Ball stays with Skyline and shot is good again by Owen but ball goes loose for Skyline and ball goes back to Liberty.
Two is good by Paxton Hunter and Skyline stays up by two, 51-49.
Parker Tune with a backdoor cut to bring the Eagles up by two, their first lead of the game.
Aiden Meade fouls Alex Tune and passes to Carter Tune. Three no good.
Parker Tune with the rebound for Liberty. But a turnover and ball goes back to Skyline. Ball goes loose but picked up by Alex Tune with 2:35 to go.
Front of the rim shot is no good but Draydon Wells with the putback. Meade with a three for Skyline is no good. Draydon Wells tries to get the loose ball but is tied up.
Tie up by Meade for Skyline. Foul on Skyline as Parker Tune takes it back. He shoots and scores, 57-49. Three no good by Meade. Taken down by Paxton Hunter and and another team foul on Meade.
Skyline extends their defense out to the length of the floor with 63 sec to go.
Liberty will shoot free throws the rest of the ballgame.
Alex Tune rounds out the last few shots for Liberty as they have outscored Skyline- 37-28 and win the matchup by a Final of 64-52
Liberty is now bound for the Final four in Coulmbia next Friday and Saturday!
