Liberty Eagles Win in State Sectional round Over Seymour Tigers

The Liberty Eagles faced off against the Seymour Tigers  in sectionals this evening, with a clean slate potentially taking a team to the finals on the line.

The game began with opening salvos from both side leading to Seymour managing a 3-point lead over the Eagles. That gap expanded as the quarter went on, ending 17 to 10 in favor of the Tigers.

The second quarter saw a lot of returns thematically from the first, with Seymour maintaining a lead. Despite several fouls called on Liberty, the Eagles managed to close the gap with Seymour in the last bit of the second quarter. Seymour ended the second with a 1-point lead, 28 to 27 points.

Pulling up the gamin their favor, the Eagles soared over their opponents and took the lead in the third quarter. Still, the lead was narrow as the Seymour Tigers kept pace, never far behind. That was until 2 minutes remained in the match. With a few hot plays, the Liberty Eagles managed to pull ahead of the Tigers with a 7-point lead. With the end of the third quarter, Liberty kept their lead, even increasing the gap, 49 to 39. A massive change.

In the fourth and final quarter, all Liberty had to do was maintain their now strong lead over the Tigers to take the game. Liberty was making mistakes in this quarter however, bringing into question their win. However, their lead was held. Two players, one from each team, had fouled out of the game with two minutes remaining. The scoreboard sitting at 57-50, in favor of Liberty. As time ticked down to one minute left, Liberty had expanded their lead to a 10-point difference. Liberty gave two turnovers at the end, keeping Seymour in the game, 62-56. Despite any mistakes in the fourth quarter, the Eagles stayed over the Tigers, finishing the game with a total score of 66 to 60.
