Mariners 2, Royals 0

The Royals were shutout in their series finale against the Mariners. Kansas City lost to Seattle 2-0 in the finale of a three-game set at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals had five hits but went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. Starting pitcher Stephen Kolek was charged with his sixth loss after allowing two runs, one earned, through seven-plus innings. The Royals are seven games back from the final AL Wild Card spot at 76- 77. They host the Toronto Blue Jays tonight.

The Royals placed right-hander Ryan Bergert on the injured list due to right forearm tightness that he experienced in the bullpen earlier this week. Bergert was scheduled to start Friday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays, which will go to Michael Lorenzen. The Royals have also placed outfielder Kyle Isbel on the IL and recalled reliever Luinder Avila and outfielder John Rave from Triple-A Omaha.
