Mizzou Athletics Receives $1.1M Gift For Key Department Initiatives

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The generosity of a long-time St. Louis Tiger fan has provided a $1.1M anonymous gift to Mizzou Athletics, Director of Athletics Jim Sterk announced today.

“This individual has been a Mizzou fan his entire life, has tremendous passion for his Tigers and has been very successful in the business world,” Sterk said. “He is extremely excited about the future of Mizzou Football under Coach Drinkwitz’ leadership and wanted to help us make the new indoor practice facility a reality for future Tigers to utilize.

“It is extremely rewarding to see the incredible support that this project continues to receive from our loyal donors across the nation, and the impact that it will have on our football program moving forward,” he added. “Mizzou is competing in the nation’s most competitive conference, and it is critical that we continue to receive support such as this generous donation in order to position all of our programs to produce academic and athletic excellence.”

The $1.1M gift will go toward key department initiatives, including Mizzou Football’s indoor practice facility, scholarship aid for all student-athletes and the Tiger Scholarship Fund.  This marks the ninth seven- or eight-figure gift Mizzou Athletics has received during the current fiscal year.

“Since my arrival nearly five years ago, the generosity of Mizzou fans in stepping forward to help us complete major capital projects to help ensure future success for our teams has been amazing,” Sterk said. “Our donors have a strong desire to see Mizzou Athletics enjoy success in the nation’s toughest conference, and they continue to make the investments necessary to help us reach our goals, and we continue to be extremely grateful for their generous support.”
