COLUMBIA, Mo. – More All-America teams were announced on Thursday and Friday with University of Missouri’s senior running back Tyler Badie and sophomore kicker Harrison Mevis included.
In the 132nd edition of the nation’s oldest All-America Teams, running back Tyler Badie earned a Walter Camp Football Foundation second-team honor. He has rewritten Mizzou’s record book this season, setting a new school record for single-season rushing yards (1,604). His final rushing touchdown of the regular season was his 14th and the 23rd of his career – good for ninth on Mizzou’s single season and career top-10 lists.
Badie was also a member of the second-team All-America list compiled by CBS Sports / 247 Sports. He was also a first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection by a vote of the league coaches and the Associated Press (unanimous).
Badie is Mizzou’s first All-American running back since 1998 (Devin West, The Sporting News, first team). Damarea Crockett was an Athlon third-team Freshman All-American in 2016.
Mevis earned a Football Writers Association of America (FWAA)second-team All-America honor. He is tied for the lead among all FBS players who are primarily field goal kickers with 24 points. He is 20-of-22 on field goals, going 3-of-3 from over 50 yards, while also hitting all 40 of his extra point attempts. His 20 made field goals is tied for ninth-most in FBS and second-most in the SEC.
Earlier this week, Mevis earned first-team All-America honors from The Athletics and Action Network. He is only the second kicker in MU history to earn All-America status (Grant Ressel, 2009).
Next week, the following media outlets and organizations will release their respective All-America Teams: Associated Press (Dec. 13), The Sporting News (Dec. 14) and the AFCA (Dec. 15).
