BRYANT, ARKANSAS-For the first time in 28 years, The Mountain Home Lockeroom Baseball Team took home a win in the Arkansas AAA American Legion State Championship by a score of 11-8 in the final game against the Fort Smith Sportsman after a four-game sweep.
According to the Lockeroom’s 42-year Head Coach, Kevin White; “With the exception of a few times, their approach to the plate was good.”
Lockeroom’s top hitters for the tournament were Mason Sinclair and Jordan Corbett. Sinclair batted 7-for-15 (.467) with four RBIs and three runs scored. Corbett was 6-for-14 (.429) with three RBIs and five runs scored.
Lincolin Sherry and Nate Henderson each went 2-for-3 in the championship game, while Sinclair was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, McCandlis was 2-for-4 with two ribbies, and Corbett went 2-for-5. Kelton Moreton smashed two doubles and added an RBI to lead Fort Smith.
The team which has a 38-12-1 record will travel to Washington, MO to play in the Mid-South Regional South Tournament from Aug 6th-10 where they will open against Columbia, Tennessee. The Lockeroom originally defeated the Columbia, TN in a tournament in Charleston, MO last month.
