A day after coming through with the game-winning hit, his RBI single in the fifth inning gave the Royals their third run. John Schreiber picked up the win, lowering his ERA to 0.75, with a scoreless inning of relief. Kansas City is 15-and-10 on the season. George Springer hit his third homer of the year as the Blue Jays fell to 13-and-12.
Kyle Gibson tossed six innings of one-run ball as the Cardinals cruised past the Diamondbacks 5-1 in St. Louis. Gibson struck out six as he evened his record at 2-and-2. Lars Nootbaar hit a two-run double, while Nolan Arenado plated a run and scored for the Redbirds, who took two-of-three in the series. St. Louis is now 11-and-14 on the season. Christian Walker drove in the lone run for the Snakes, who have alternated wins and losses over their last seven games. Jordan Montgomery allowed three runs, two earned, in seven frames as he fell to 1-and-1. Arizona is 12-and-14 on the year.
