The Kansas City Royals overcame a two-run eighth-inning deficit during a 6-5 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. The Royals trailed by two entering the eighth, but Drew Waters tied the game with a two-run single. In the ninth, MJ Melendez drove in go-ahead run with an RBI single. Waters added a home run in the victory, while the Royals combined for seven stolen bases. Aroldis Chapman earned his third win and Scott Barlow picked up his ninth save. Kansas City has won two of three. Shane McLanahan exited the game in the fourth inning with a back injury, and former Mizzou Tiger Pete Fairbanks was charged with his second loss out of the bullpen. Tampa has dropped four of five.
