Tiger Woods Is ‘Stepping Away for a Period of Time’

Tiger Woods seems to be fighting the charges from his latest crash—and stepping away from golf to deal with the fallout.

The golf star has pleaded not guilty to DUI-related charges tied to his recent rollover crash in Florida and is demanding a jury trial.

In a public statement after the arrest, Woods acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, saying, “I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” and announced he will step away from the game to seek treatment and focus on his health.

The crash happened near his home when his SUV flipped after hitting another vehicle. Deputies said he showed signs of impairment, though he tested negative for alcohol and admitted to taking prescription medication.

Woods is contesting the charges in court while also publicly acknowledging the situation and taking time away to address his health.
