Austin Wells hit a three-run homer and finished with five RBI, Aaron Judge hit the third-longest homer in the majors this season, and the New York Yankees routed the Kansas City Royals 10-2 on Tuesday night. Judge’s two-run homer in the first had an exit velocity of 117.9 mph and traveled 469 feet, landing on the roof of the Royals Hall of Fame in left field.
Noah Cameron, the St. Joseph native, allowed the two home runs and was pulled in the sixth and charged with six runs. Jac Caglianone singled and had an RBI groundout in his home debut for Kansas City.
RHP Clarke Schmidt (2-3, 4.04 ERA) starts Tuesday night for New York. LHP Kris Bubic (5-3, 1.43 ERA) gets the nod for Kansas City.
Andrés Giménez and Alejandro Kirk each homered, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the St. Louis Cardinals 10-9 on Tuesday night. Miles Mikolas (4-3) allowed six runs on nine hits in five innings, and the Cardinals lost their third straight.
Nolan Arenado had an RBI single and Nolan Gorman followed with a three-run homer off Jays starter Chris Bassitt as the Cardinals tied the game at 4-all in the fourth. Arenado also hit a two-run homer in the eighth. Toronto tacked on two more runs in the ninth off reliever Chris Roycroft. A three-run homer by Willson Contreras in the ninth drew the Cardinals closer.
Brendan Donovan was hit by a pitch in the fourth inning and left the game.
Cardinals LHP Matthew Liberatore (3-5, 3.82 ERA) will start in the series finale on Wednesday afternoon at 1:15.
