A Mountain View man is facing multiple felony charges after police say a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine and several firearms inside his vehicle.
According to a probable cause statement filed in Howell County, an officer stopped a red Chevrolet pickup around 7:50 p.m. on April 14 after noticing it had no rear license plate. The driver, Colten Dale Wilkins, was found to have a revoked Missouri license with seven prior convictions for driving while revoked. Police say he also lacked insurance and had mismatched or expired registration.
Wilkins consented to a vehicle search, during which officers located a small plastic bag containing a white crystalline substance under the driver’s seat. The substance field‑tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed .36 grams, including the bag. Officers also found four firearms inside the truck.
Investigators say the combination of methamphetamine and multiple firearms, along with Wilkins’ repeated driving violations and failure to maintain an ignition interlock device, indicates he poses a danger to the community.
Wilkins is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, felony driving while revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia, and several traffic offenses. His bond is set at $25,000.
