In anticipation of immigration enforcement protests across the state, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has activated the Missouri National Guard as a precautionary measure in response to ongoing civil unrest nationwide.
Through Executive Order 25-25, Governor Kehoe declared a State of Emergency, authorizing the National Guard to assist local and state agencies in maintaining public safety if necessary. The move comes amid heightened tensions across the country and aims to ensure that peaceful protests remain nonviolent.
In preparation, the Missouri Department of Public Safety, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Missouri National Guard have formed a Unified Command to monitor developments and coordinate support efforts.
The executive order grants the Adjutant General the authority to deploy Guard units and equipment as needed to aid civilian authorities in protecting life and property. Governor Kehoe emphasized the state’s proactive approach, contrasting it with what he described as delayed responses in other parts of the country.
