WEST PLAINS, Mo. — West Plains Middle School 5th grade science students studied scientific tools and instruments in a classroom inquiry-based model.
Students recently saw first-hand the tools they studied are used in the medical field by visiting OMC’s Clinical Laboratory and Ultrasound Laboratory. The students learned the processes for drawing blood, red and white blood cell count, blood types, microbiology specimens, and cultures.
The visit was part of the Rural Education and Careers in Health (REACH) program offered by Ozarks Medical Center, funded through a Missouri Hospital Association grant.
