Angels 4, Royals 2

The Royals dropped their series finale against the Angels. Kansas City lost to Los Angeles 5-2 to wrap up the three-game series at Kauffman Stadium. Freddy Fermin and Samad Taylor each drove-in one run in the losing effort. Starting pitcher Zack Greinke fell to 1-and-7 after letting up four earned runs through five frames. Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout each crushed back-to-back homers in the fifth inning while Jared Walsh slugged a solo shot in the ninth to seal the victory.

The Royals are at the bottom of the AL Central at 19-and-52. They will hit the road to take on the Detroit Tigers tonight, with right-hander Jordan Lyles slated to start.

(Kansas City, MO) — Kansas City will be without its starting second baseman for a few games. The Royals placed Michael Massey on the 10-day injured list due to a laceration on his left hand. The 25-year-old is batting .217 with four home runs and 20 RBI through 60 games. In other moves, the team selected the contract of Matt Beaty from Triple-A Omaha and transferred first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino to the 60-day injured list.
