West Plains, MO. – A Eunice man is in police custody for a burglary and multiple assaults following an early Sunday morning disturbance in Mountain View, Missouri.
Willie Gene Day, age 41, is charged with two counts of 3rd-degree assault on a special victim, 3rd-degree assault, 1st-degree burglary, and resisting arrest for a felony. Day is being held on a $50,000 cash or surety bond.
According to the probable cause statement, Mountain View Police responded to a call about a peace disturbance in the area of 3rd Street at 4:42 a.m. on February 4th. An officer responding to the area found Day allegedly beating on a white truck and screaming at the driver. After spotting the officer’s vehicle, he was quoted as yelling “Cops. I *expletive* hate cops! Come here!”. This is when Day is said to have walked over to the police cruiser and assaulted the officer through his open window, punching him, and grabbing his ear in an attempt to pull the officer out of the vehicle.
The officer drove off to call for back up. During this time, Day is accused of breaking into a residence on 3rd Street, busting the locks on the house, and attempting to fight the resident, who fought with Day until the suspect fell off the porch.
M.V.P.D. returned with assistance from Howell County Sheriff’s Deputies and Day is accused of resisting arrest and continuing to fight the law enforcement officers, kicking two of them.
