Stephen Douglas Durham, 65 years and 10 days old, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2024 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO with his family by his side.
Steve was born June 3, 1959 in Mansfield, MO to Bobby Lee and Iris Ann (Brown) Durham.
Steve grew up in the Ava community and graduated from Ava High School in 1977. He then enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country in Special Intelligence as a Human Intelligence Collector and a Spanish Interrogator for approximately four years. After receiving his honorable discharge he continued his education at Missouri State University and then was offered his dream job. He accepted the position of Golf Pro at the Sands Resort in Las Vegas, NV. He was later employed with the Brown Derby Wine Center in Springfield, MO as a Wine Specialist for several years. This position gave him the opportunity to travel to many countries throughout the world.
Steve enjoyed golf, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Steve was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Ava, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Steve is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Cathy and Jeff Alderman of Camdenton, MO, John Durham of Springfield, MO, Susan and Dwight Evans of Squires, MO, Lisa Eichelberger of Sparta, TN, and Julie and Gus Rogers of Osawatomie, KS; numerous nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews; extended family and many friends.
Cremation services for Steve are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO per Steve’s request. A private celebration of life will be at a later date and time.
