The Josiah Howell Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) celebrated its one-year anniversary on April 12. The event was hosted by the SAR Ladies Auxiliary, whose members also belong to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). The SAR expressed gratitude to the Auxiliary and the community for their support throughout a successful first year.
During the celebration, Brett Howell was inducted as the chapter’s newest member. Brett, a descendant of Josiah Howell, the namesake of Howell County, was joined by family as he took the oath, administered by John Hass. Chapter President Garry Pirch led the ceremony, and Cindy Pirch addressed the vital role the Ladies Auxiliary plays in supporting SAR activities.
Members inducted during the chapter’s first year will be recognized as Charter Members.
