From the Probable Cause Statement:
On Monday evening the Howell County Sherriff’s Department was dispatched to a residence in the West Plains area for an ongoing domestic situation. Upon arrival Deputy Gordon made contact with three individuals who were out of the initial residence and safe inside a different residence on the property. Two of the three were intoxicated and advised that they had been with the suspect drinking when the incident started. The victim stated that David Brege (suspect) became angry with her during an argument and began choking her while she was holding her child. She stated that David had a history of drinking and becoming violent and had threatened her many times in the past including the previous Friday when he threatened to throw her in a fire.
Deputy Gordon went to the residence David was located at and he became hostile with Gordon demanding to know why he was there. It was recorded that the suspect was obviously intoxicated and after conversation he admitted to getting into the argument but denied any physical altercation. After explaining to him that the evidence and statements given were consistent with his state that he would be placed under arrest and he was taken without further incident.
Berge is being charged with Assault 3rd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
