Missouri PSC Shares Summer Energy-Saving Tips

As temperatures rise across the state, the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) is reminding residents to take steps to manage their energy use and reduce utility bills during the hot summer months.

In a recent press release, the PSC provided a series of practical energy-saving tips for homes and businesses. Recommendations include setting thermostats to 78 degrees when at home and higher when away, using ceiling fans to help circulate air, and closing blinds or curtains during the day to block out heat.

The PSC also encourages Missourians to avoid using heat-generating appliances like ovens or dryers during the hottest parts of the day and to ensure that air conditioning units are running efficiently with clean filters and proper maintenance.

For those struggling to pay energy bills, the commission advises reaching out to utility providers for available payment assistance programs or exploring resources such as the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

More energy efficiency tips and consumer resources are available on the PSC’s website at psc.mo.gov.
