Ava Police Respond to a Domestic Abuse Call

 

 According to a probable cause statement, around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning the Ava Police responded to a call of domestic violence. Upon arrival officer made contact with the victim who was visibly shaking and crying.

In a written statement from the victim, she said that the accused, Newt Soulder, woke her up at 7 a.m. and started yelling at her.  When she stated to him that she needed to get the kids up and ready he responded by saying that he hated the kids and that he would throw them in the dumpster and make new ones. 

The victim told him to leave, and he took her phone, she followed him out and he told her to take her to his grandmother’s house.  During the drive he punched the windshield shattering it, then when they pulled into the driveway, he began choking her and was screaming “I’m sick of you”.

Souder then went to the drivers side of the car and caused damage to the door and struck the victim in the face.  Officers noted visible injuries on the victim.

Newt Souder is charged with 2nd Degree Domestic Assault and 1st Degree Property Damage.
