River Conditions Update: Current River Closures Continue, Jacks Fork Fully Open

Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Mo. — Park officials have issued an updated conditions report as of Tuesday, July 9 at 9:10 a.m., highlighting continued closures along portions of the Current River due to elevated water levels and safety concerns.

The middle section of the Current River, from Two Rivers to Log Yard, remains closed to non-motorized vessels.
The lower Current River, from Log Yard to Gooseneck, is also closed.
The entire Jacks Fork River is open for recreational use.

Officials are urging the public to use caution on any recently reopened sections of river. While parts of the river system are now accessible, fast-moving and murky water conditions, as well as newly emerged hazards, can significantly increase the risk to floaters.

Visitors are reminded to always wear a personal flotation device (PFD), stay alert, and exercise heightened awareness on the water.

Closures apply specifically to non-motorized vessels, such as kayaks and canoes, and are intended to protect park visitors during periods of high water. These restrictions do not apply within two miles of Van Buren or Eminence, nor do they affect motorized watercraft.

For the latest updates and safety information, visitors are encouraged to check with park rangers or visit the official Ozark National Scenic Riverways website or social media channels.
