COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball infielder Jackson Lovich (16th round, 494th overall, New York Yankees) and right-handed pitcher Sam Horn (17th round, 525th overall, Los Angeles Dodgers) have been selected in 2025 Major League Baseball Draft, marking the fourth-straight year multiple Tigers have heard their names called in the Draft.
A total of 14 Mizzou players have been drafted in that span (2022-25).
Lovich has appeared in 116 games and made 108 starts in three seasons for Mizzou, including 97 over the past two seasons. A career .311 hitter in a Mizzou uniform, the junior led the Tigers and ranked sixth in the SEC with a .357 average during the 2025 campaign. Lovich added a team-best 12 home runs, 51 RBI, 39 runs, three triples and 20 walks this past season, and he logged a 1.052 OPS.
Lovich was the top-ranked shortstop and No. 3 overall prospect in the state of Kansas in 2022, coming out of Blue Valley West (Kan.) High School, and he was named the 2022 Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year. He was previously selected by the New York Mets in the 19th round of the 2022 MLB Draft.
Horn, an athletic and deceptive redshirt-sophomore who also plays quarterback on the Mizzou Football team, started five games on the mound for the Tigers in 2025 after missing the 2024 season due to injury. He logged 10.2 innings in his return, striking out 14 and allowing seven hits.
A top prospect exiting Collins Hill (Ga.) High School in 2022, Horn turned down professional overtures to play baseball and football at Mizzou. He finished as a top-200 national recruit in both baseball and football in the Class of 2022, and he was the No. 17 overall prospect in Georgia’s 2022 class.
