Ozark County – A fugitive wanted on an active felony warrant was located Thursday afternoon in a rural cabin outside Brixey, Missouri, after authorities say a man repeatedly misled them about her whereabouts.
At approximately 12:23 p.m., law enforcement officers responded to the residence in search of Lashanna Lambert, a known fugitive. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Joshua Benson, who was staying at the cabin. According to officials, Benson denied any knowledge of Lambert’s location, telling officers, “She is not here,” despite the fact that her personal vehicle was visible in the front driveway.
Authorities were granted access to the residence, and as Benson began packing his belongings, Lambert emerged from an upstairs bedroom. Investigators say Benson continued to give false information about how long Lambert had been staying there, even after she had been found inside the home.
This was reportedly not the first time Benson had been questioned about Lambert. According to the sheriff’s department, just a week earlier he told officers he did not know where she was. Benson was arrested and charged with Hindering Prosecution of a Felony.
