The West Plains Zizzers hosted the Hillcrest Hornets at Zizzer Stadium on Friday night and they got out of the gate quickly. The first drive of the game Jackson Taylor ran the ball in to the end zone for an early lead, the extra point was good making it 7-0. After holding Hillcrest the Zizzers reached into their bag of tricks for a 42 yard halfback pass from Jackson Taylor to Jacob Moore, a bad snap caused the extra point ot be no good making the school 13-0. Judd intercepted a pass setting up touchdown number three a Miller touchdown run making the score 21-0 which is where the score remained until the end of the 1st quarter.
In the second quarter it was more of the same, Lawson had a 22 yard scoop and score defensive touchdown to go up 28-0, the next possession the defense come up with a 55 yard pick six making the score 35-0. The defense held tough again forcing a punt which was returned 50 yards for a touchdown extending the lead to 42-0. The scoring ended in the second quarter with a touchdown pass from Miller to Due making the score 49-0 at halftime.
West Plains received the second half kick and scored once again on a long bomb from Ethan Miller to Hale for an 85 yard touchdown making the score 56-0 which remained the same through the end of the third. The Varsity players ended there night at that point.
Hillcrest was able to crack the scoreboard with around seven minutes remaining to make the score 56-7. The Junior Varsity team drove down the field to end the game and took a knee inside the 10 to run out the clock and secure the win. The Zizzers move to 2-1 on the season and will host Branson for Homecoming next Friday night.
