A West Plains man is facing multiple charges after a violent domestic incident involving an 8-day-old infant at a residence on Jackson Street.
On September 15, officers responded to a call reporting suspicious circumstances at 1226 Jackson Street. Upon arrival, police made contact with the female resident, who alleged that her boyfriend, identified as Dakota Hanson, had been destroying property and behaving erratically while under the influence of an illicit substance.
The victim, who is also the mother of Hanson’s newborn son, stated that she asked Hanson to leave due to concerns about his behavior around her children. In response, Hanson allegedly began throwing items inside the home and broke her iPhone 14 Pro Max, valued at approximately $799.
According to the victim, Hanson refused to let her and her children leave the residence. She sought help from a neighbor upstairs, prompting Hanson to allegedly pour bleach on the bed while she was seated there with her infant son. Fearing for the child’s safety, she turned quickly to shield him from the chemical.
The situation escalated when Hanson reportedly wrenched the infant from her arms and threw the child into a carrier swing. Officers noted a strong odor of bleach upon entering the residence.
Hanson told police the incident stemmed from an argument over TikTok videos on his phone. He admitted to throwing toys but declined to continue speaking after being advised of his Miranda Rights.
Hanson was arrested and transported to the West Plains Police Department. During a search of his property, Detention Officer Harris discovered a plastic baggie containing 14 small blue pills, which Hanson identified as Xanax.
He now faces multiple charges, including:
• Property Damage – 1st Degree
• Possession of Controlled Substance
• Endangering the Welfare of a Child – 2nd Degree
• Domestic Assault – 4th Degree
