The driver, identified as Matthew Bradley, provided insurance information. During the stop, the passenger, Daniel Knaub, was seen holding a clear baggie containing a white powdery substance, which he attempted to conceal in the glove box. Bradley denied any illegal items in the vehicle but consented to a search.

A field test of the substance returned positive for fentanyl or cocaine. Bradley also performed a standardized field sobriety test and failed.

Once transported to the jail, Knaub admitted to possessing additional narcotics. He was escorted to a restroom where he removed three baggies containing a crystalline substance from his clothing. The baggies weighed 19.9 grams, 20.0 grams, and 19.8 grams, totaling 59.7 grams.

Knaub later stated that he and Bradley had traveled to Illinois to obtain the drugs and were returning to Missouri when stopped. Both suspects were read their Miranda rights.

Charges filed include 1st degree drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance for both men, Bradley received an additional charge of DWI.
