Michael “Mike” Hampton
Ava, Missouri
On November 26, 2025, Michael Lane Hampton, 58 years and 12 days old, scratched his last lottery ticket here on earth and finally hit the jackpot of peace he had always hoped for.
Mike was born November 14, 1967, in Mansfield, Missouri, to Eldon Duane “Bud” and Bonita Maxine (Swearengin) Hampton. Mike came into this world with a stubborn spirit and a tender heart, traits that stayed with him from childhood to adulthood. He was a Christian and was saved at White Oak Church.
On August 14, 1987, Mike married the love of his life, Sheri Ann Dollarhide, in Goodhope, Missouri, and together were blessed with five children.
Mike spent most of his adult life working at local sawmills, always finding his spot as head sawyer. Beyond the sawmill, Mike had a great gift with his hands, a skill passed down from his father, “Bud”, and uncle Arthur. He loved crafting cedar chests and furniture, putting care and skill into every piece.
Mike loved his family fiercely, especially those WWF Wrestling nights with his kids where he loved to flex for laughs. He also took pride in a well kept yard.
Mike became a Papa in 2012, and his heart grew bigger and softer with each grandbaby after.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Bonita, and brother, Tommy Joe Hampton.
He is survived by his wife, Sheri; children and their spouses, Misty and Robert O’leary, Amanda and Dustin Rogers, Amber and Jesse Lakey, Mikey and Esther Hampton, and Michaela Hampton; nine grandchildren, Kylah, Sophie, Breckin, Erin, Bowen, Blake, Piper, Nolan, and Novalee; siblings, Mark Hampton, Marvin Hampton, Jonetta Brazeal; his bonus mom, Frances Hampton, and her children; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and numerous friends.
Mike had a rough around the edges charm, a loud laugh, and a big heart that wanted to do right by the people he loved. He will be remembered for his grit, his humor, and the way he made life a little livelier for everyone around him.
