Funeral Services for Nelson G. Simpson, Age 94 of Alton, Missouri will be held on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025 at The Clary Funeral Home, Alton, Missouri, beginning at 2:00 PM. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery, Alton, Missouri.
Nelson Simpson, 94, passed on December 5th, 2025 at Shepard’s View Assisted Living, Alton, Missouri.
The son of Lewis A. W. Simpson was born on the family farm in Piney Township, Alton, Missouri on October 6th 1931.
Nelson graduated from high school in 1946 after which he continued working the family farm with his father until he joined the Air Force in 1952. Nelson attained the rank of Tech Sergeant during his 20 years of service. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, Nelson returned to the family farm in Alton where he raised hogs, cattle, buffalo and countless bales of hay. Nelson was also a carpenter, builder and stone mason. There are many houses, workshops, barns and hay barns here in Oregon county that he built.
Nelson is preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Ella (Blankenship) Simpson, his wife Shirley (Combs) Simpson, his sisters and brothers-in-law Linda and Claude Doss, and Louella and Ralph Cox, step grandson Jason Combs.
He is survived by his sons Lewis (wife Sher), grandson Tyler, great-grand daughters Hayleigh and Carleigh, son Daryl (wife Marianne), grand daughters Katie (of Arlington Va.) and Caroline (of Philadelphia Pa.) husband Hin Zianlong Zheng (of Philadelphia Pa.), Stepsons Andrew (wife Debra) Combs, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren Robert (Louie) Combs and 1 grandchild and 5 great grandchildren Anthony (wife Fran) Combs, Jubal Combs (wife Cheri) Combs, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren
