Thomas was born December 20, 1946, in Wichita, Kansas, to James and Lois Arlene (Emond) Durham.

Tom loved Jesus with his whole heart and he always said, “When Jesus has no one else for me to tell about him, he will call me home.”, and that is what happened. His last words were about Jesus, he knew where he was going, and was excited to meet him face to face. As much as he loved Jesus, his family was a very close second. One of his greatest joys was that all of his girls loved Jesus as well, and married wonderful men that will continue to take care of them. Psalm 127:5 says, “Blessed is the man whose quiver is full,” and his quiver overflowed with the blessing of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who brought him great joy and pride.

On January 14, 1987, Tom and Vicky Durham were united in marriage at First Southern Baptist Church in Ava. This was the beginning of a great love story that was coming up on 38 years of marriage and will continue on. They each brought beautiful daughters to the marriage and were blessed with one more. Through all of their years of marriage, many adventures were had. However, if you asked him, his greatest adventure was getting to spend each day with his wife. They traveled for work, and they traveled for fun, but his favorite places were the beach and his front porch sipping coffee with his wife.

Tom built a successful construction company spanning 40+ years. He enjoyed flying airplanes, horse back riding, spending time on any type of water, singing and playing his guitar, or talking to anyone who would listen and even those who wouldn’t. In his quiet time, you could find him reading his bible, listening to southern gospel music, or enjoying time with Jesus.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronald Durham and Larry Durham; infant daughter Deana Michelle; and his son-in-law, Troy Sullivan.

Thomas is survived by his wife Vicky of the home; children, Kendra and Tim Giles, Becky and Matthew Heinlein, Jessica and Oran Boyd, all of Ava, Donna and Doug Turney of Seymour, Lori and Kenny James of Norwood, and Lesia and Dane Scott of Mountain Grove; 18 grand children; 18 great grand children with more on the way; one brother, Jerry Durham and his wife Sandy, and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends, all who will miss him greatly.
