A Celebration of Life for Carol S. Macy, Age 77 of West Plains, Missouri will take place on Sunday, January 25th, 2026 at Ozark Christian Academy, West Plains, Missouri beginning at 2:30 PM.
Carol Macy was born February 7, 1948, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to George & Mary Lou Sigler. She passed away on January 12, 2026, in West Plains, Mo. Carol was a proud native of Parkersburg, West Virginia, where she spent her formative years and met the love of her life, Elgar at a Boy Scout/Girl Scout Dance.The two married on June 7, 1969, in their hometown after Elgar was commissioned an Ensign in the US Navy. They began their life together first moving to Pensacola, Florida where Elgar began flight training and Carol began her career as a Registered Nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital serving as Charge nurse in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit.
Over the next twenty years, Carol and Elgar’s life together was filled with
adventure as they moved through numerous duty assignments along the east coast,
ultimately settling at their final duty station in Puerto Rico, before Elgar’s retirement from
the Navy. In 1989, they made West Plains, Missouri, their home, where Carol joined
Ozarks Medical Center as an RN. Driven by her passion for helping others, she became
a Physician’s Assistant in 1994 and continued to serve her community until her
retirement in 2021. She had dedicated her life to serving and caring for others. She
touched so many lives in her career that the number will never be known. She made a
tremendous impact on our community. Serving in numerous capacities before her
retirement at Ozarks Healthcare including as a mid level provider at Gainesville Clinic, Urgent Care Clinic, Emergency Department, and OZH Pain Management Clinic.
Carol was known for her devotion to Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She also enjoyed sewing and all types of needlework, as well as relaxing with her dog, Muffin. Carol was an enthusiastic fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Kansas City Chiefs. She and Elgar cherished their “glamping” adventures in their RV, with Branson being their favorite destination among many others.
Carol is survived by her loving husband, Elgar; their daughter Corinne Agnew and her
husband Chris; their son Trevor Macy and his wife Gloria; their youngest son Robert
Macy and his wife Monica; fifteen grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and
friends.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Ozarks
Healthcare Foundation in Carol’s memory.
