A Douglas County man is facing multiple charges after a late-night traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to a probable cause statement filed by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested 47-year-old Joshua Lee Dunstan of Vanzant, Missouri, on February 5, 2026, after observing his vehicle fail to stop at a marked intersection on Highway 76. During the stop, Deputy Dalton Martin noted signs of impairment and unusual behavior, prompting further investigation.

Dunstan allegedly admitted to possessing a meth pipe in his coat pocket and a baggie of methamphetamine in a cigarette pack inside the vehicle. Field tests confirmed the presence of methamphetamine. He was placed under arrest and subjected to a series of field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment. A blood sample was later collected for further analysis.

Charges filed include possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated (drug-related), and failure to stop at a stop sign. Dunstan was placed on a 24-hour investigative hold pending formal charges. Authorities also noted a prior DWI arrest from 2006.
