Deputies say they stopped Gerald Robert Wright around 10:45 p.m. on February 9 after noticing his vehicle had a headlight out as it left the Fun City parking lot and entered U.S. 60. During the stop, the deputy reported that Wright appeared extremely nervous, with shaking hands and a trembling voice.

Wright agreed to sit in the patrol vehicle and later consented to a search of his car. According to the report, Wright repeatedly ignored commands and attempted to conceal items inside containers he claimed held nicotine pouches. When the deputy tried to detain him, Wright allegedly tensed up and resisted before being handcuffed.

Deputies say they recovered two short straws containing a white powder, which field‑tested positive for methamphetamine. Wright later admitted he had hidden additional meth in his pant leg during the struggle. Deputies recovered a bag containing about 2.68 grams of methamphetamine.

Wright was transported to the Wright County Jail and placed on a 24‑hour hold. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and resisting or opposing law enforcement.
