Proposition 1 asks voters to repeal the existing 1/2 cent capital improvement tax and replace it with a 1/2 cent sales tax. The original capital improvement tax restricted spending to road materials, culverts and contracted improvements for the countyโs Road and Bridge Department.
The new proposal would replace the 2017 tax ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ increasing the tax rate, but it would broaden the allowable uses to include labor and equipment purchases for Road and Bridgeโsomething the current capital improvement tax does not permit. Rising costs for equipment and labor have made this flexibility a priority.
