Troopers say they observed a dark green Toyota Sienna traveling 88 miles per hour in a 55‑mph zone on Missouri 142. “I activated my radar unit and observed the Toyota’s speed at 88 miles per hour,” the reporting officer wrote.

The driver turned onto Route V and pulled into a private driveway before continuing toward a wooded area. As the patrol vehicle approached with emergency lights activated, the driver exited the van and ran into the woods. “I exited my patrol vehicle and ordered the driver to stop. He stated, ‘nah’ and continued walking away from me into the woods,” the officer reported.

The driver eventually returned to the patrol car after admitting he had a warrant. When asked for his name, he identified himself as Justin. Troopers say he repeatedly refused commands to place his hands behind his back and resisted efforts to detain him. At one point, he informed the officer he had a firearm in his waistband, which was removed during a frisk.

Backup arrived at approximately 5:04 p.m., and officers attempted again to place Hoyt under arrest. According to the report, he “tensed up and began pulling away,” continuing to resist until a deputy drew a pepper ball launcher. Officers then secured him in handcuffs.

Hoyt was transported to the Oregon County Sheriff’s Office, fingerprinted, and placed on a 24‑hour investigative hold pending formal charges. The incident was recorded on audio and video.

Court records show Hoyt is charged with exceeding the posted speed limit by 26 mph or more (304.010), operating a motor vehicle knowing the owner lacked financial responsibility (303.025), and resisting or interfering with arrest, detention, or stop for a misdemeanor (575.150).
