Attempted ATM Heist in Gainesville

Around 4:11 a.m. on March 26, Ozark County deputies and Sheriff Cass Martin responded to a security alarm at Stockmens Bank on Elm Street in Gainesville. The alarm was triggered when someone tampered with the bank’s exterior ATM.

Deputies arrived to find the bank itself secure, but the ATM had been forcibly torn from its concrete base in the driveway. Investigators say the suspects tried to break into the machine and then attempted to haul it away, but were unsuccessful. They fled the scene, leaving the heavily damaged ATM behind.

The Ozark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating with assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and has also requested support from the FBI.
