A Pomona woman is facing felony drug‑trafficking charges after police say a K9 search uncovered more than 68 grams of methamphetamine during an investigation on April 15.
According to a probable cause statement filed in Howell County, Officer Branden Vernon contacted Lisa Marie Silva‑Oropeza while investigating another individual suspected in a separate felony case earlier in the week. The male she was with was taken into custody, and officers had received information indicating Silva‑Oropeza might also be in possession of illegal drugs.
A K9 unit was called to the scene on Wayhaven and alerted on the vehicle. A subsequent probable‑cause search revealed a box containing a clear bag of crystallized substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 68.1 grams, along with several thousand dollars in cash. Officers also located a glass smoking device and multiple clear plastic baggies inside the center console.
Silva‑Oropeza is charged with second‑degree drug trafficking and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond is set at $50,000.
