A strong showing of local talent gathered at the STARS Foundation in Cabool on Friday, April 17, as community members of all ages auditioned for the upcoming production of Annie—many stepping forward with a level of confidence that surprised even themselves.
Participants performed prepared songs and read scenes from the show, with both first-time and returning performers taking part. Many had attended a free workshop focused on building confidence and preparing for the audition process—an opportunity that helped new performers walk into the room ready to try. The auditions also included families auditioning together, with mothers and daughters sharing the room as they stepped into the process side by side.
The auditions highlighted not only the depth of talent across Cabool, Houston, Mountain Grove, and surrounding communities, but also a growing willingness among local youth to take creative risks.
The production of Annie will run June 25–27, with casting announcements expected in the coming weeks.
