Junior Abby Hay and redshirt freshman Saniya Hill hit solo home runs in the fourth. Marking the first of Hill’s collegiate career and Hay’s eight of the season, respectively. Freshman Abby Carr picked up her fifth save of the season, and junior Marissa McCann moved to 10-9 after throwing four scoreless innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED

McCann started her outing strong striking out six batters through the first three innings – all from the top of the order.

The start of the game was a pitcher’s duel until the fourth when Hay hit a solo home run – her eighth of the season. Two batters later, Hill hit her own solo home run to left field, marking her first collegiate home run.

Mizzou kept the bats hot as freshman Gracie Britton cleared the bases with a double to right-center, driving in sophomores Madison Uptegrove and Sophie Smith. Pushing the Tigers lead to 4-0 after the fourth.

The Tigers kept that same offensive production in the fifth as they scored three runs off two hits in the fifth. Hill singled to bring in two more runs – putting her with a career high three RBIs, and Uptegrove produced a sacrifice fly to give Mizzou a 7-0 lead.

On the mound, McCann pitched for four innings, allowed two hits and struck out seven batters. Carr came in to relieve the starter after four innings and closed out the game to earn a save with two strikeouts and one hit in three innings of work.
