Marion County, AR – A Flippin man is in custody at the Marion County Detention Center following his arrest on serious charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault, including allegations of prolonged physical violence and unlawful restraint.
William Zachariah McCormack, 45, was arrested after an investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. He is being held on a $50,000 bond and faces a Class Y felony charge for kidnapping—the most serious criminal offense in Arkansas, not punishable by the death penalty.
According to a probable cause affidavit, a female victim reported that an argument between her and McCormack escalated into a violent physical attack. She told deputies that McCormack choked her, struck her multiple times in the head, and attempted to rip out her nose ring. She also stated that when she tried to flee through a bedroom window, McCormack forcibly pulled her back inside the residence.
The victim said McCormack held her against her will for nearly five hours, during which she feared for her life. The responding deputy documented visible injuries, including red marks on the victim’s face and swelling around her cheek and ear.
McCormack has a criminal history that includes two prior felony arrests in Baxter County. In 2023, he was charged with breaking and entering, though that case was later nolle prossed when the victim declined to pursue charges. Earlier this year, he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The current charges are pending further court proceedings. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
