IZARD COUNTY, AR – The search continues for escaped inmate Grant Hardin, who fled the North Central Unit in Calico Rock on Sunday, May 25, at approximately 3:40 p.m. Hardin, a 56-year-old Caucasian male, is currently serving a sentence for rape and murder and is considered dangerous.
According to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and investigators have worked tirelessly for over 29 hours, combing through rough terrain and actively pursuing multiple leads alongside the Arkansas Department of Corrections, Arkansas State Police, and other local and state law enforcement agencies.
Sheriff Charley Melton urges residents across Izard County and neighboring communities to remain vigilant and take safety precautions:

Lock homes, outbuildings, and vehicles.

Stay alert and report any suspicious activity by calling 911 immediately.

Do not approach Hardin if spotted. He is potentially armed and dangerous.
Hardin was last seen wearing a black hat, black pants, and a black top, possibly a prison guard-style vest. He is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs around 259 pounds.
Anyone with information about Hardin’s whereabouts is urged to contact law enforcement immediately. The Arkansas Department of Corrections and the Division of Community Corrections are continuing to coordinate efforts with local, state, and federal agencies.
